Quizpr
Music quiz made easy
Quizpr is a music quiz platform that integrates with streaming services like Spotify and Apple Music, allowing users to instantly create and host interactive music quizzes from playlists. Players join via a code on their own devices, while the quizmaster manages answers and scoring in real time. Quizpr remove manual work, reduces cheating, and enables both planned and spontaneous quiz experiences. This is a personal project and concept that is co-created with my brother who is a software engineer.
Through early ideation and reflection on our real-world quiz experiences, we identified multiple pain points that limit engagement, accessibility, and spontaneity in traditional music quizzes. Here are just a few examples. There are even more…
-
Problem:
Creating a music quiz requires significant preparation, everything from selecting theme, songs, writing questions, printing answer sheets, and plan scoring method.UX Opportunity:
Lower the barrier so a quiz can be prepared and started in minutes, not hours. -
Problem:
Quizmasters often juggle multiple things at once (music apps, connect to speaker, notes, paper) increasing cognitive load and the risk of errors.UX Opportunity:
Make a cohesive experience where both the quiz set up, music app playlists, connection to speaker, managing answers and scoring are all handled at one place. -
Problem:
Without a standardized way to collect answers, quizmasters must interpret handwritten notes, verbal responses, or differently formatted notes app entries. This slows down the quiz, increases errors, and breaks the flow of the experience as group size grows.UX Opportunity:
Enable structured, real-time answer submission through personal devices without requiring app downloads. Just entering via a code and get all the questions and answers in a structured aligned format. -
Problem:
Generic quizzes fail to reflect the music taste of the group, reducing emotional engagement.UX Opportunity:
Allow quizzes to be generated from personal playlists in streaming services the user already have a subscription with, increasing relevance and connection.
Our Process
Early discovery
Together we discovered we have common pain points in traditional quiz experiences through informal user conversations and personal observations.
This phase helped us identify key usability issues around preparation time, answer collection, fairness, and game flow.
Ideation
Generating and exploring multiple concepts for how these problems could be addressed.
This included sketching flows, discussing alternative interaction models, and evaluating different approaches to the challenge.
Core user stories and feasibility
From these ideas, we defined core user stories for both quizmasters and players and mapped user journeys to understand needs, motivations, and friction points before, during, and after a quiz session.
We then conducted feasibility exploration, validating which ideas were technically achievable within music streaming APIs.
Early development stage
Quizpr is currently in an early development stage, where concepts, user stories, and journeys are being translated into functional flows and interfaces. Design decisions continue to evolve through iteration as the product takes shape.
